If you accept Richard Bakker's (he is a famous palentologist) theory that the dinosaurs evolved into birds, then you can see them every day of your life.

Although not a reptile, the Coelecanth (a large fish that lives off the coast of Africa) was thought to have been extinct for many millions of years until one was found in the last century and there is the possibility that you could see on live if you traveled to Africa because they do not live long in captivity.

the Toledo Zoo in Toledo, Ohio has some lizard like creatures called Taratuans (spelling?). They have a pair or two of them. They are basically living fossils. They are like those celeocanth fish in the ocean. About as close as you are going to get to a dinosaur today except maybe and ostrich or emu.

Well, it is possible that the dinosaurs never died out.. They are sequencing some of the genes they found in some old T-Rex bones, with the hope to compare them with those of various birds. It could be apparently, that Birds are dinosaurs, misnamed.

Take a look at any bird in your own backyard! If you are looking for big and spectacular go to your local zoo and stare at an ostrich , then think about the raptors in the movie "Jurassic Park". Get it?
