Maybe Zidane didn't want the glory everyone EXPECTS him to go out with...maybe that's what he meant to really do...it's his choice...Zidane is STILL AMAZING!!!!!!!!

I don't care what Materazzi said, there is NO excuse for Zidane's behaviour. If Materazzi did or say something extremely out of line Zidane should have said so after the game in a press conference. Zidane's short temper not only hurt his own image, but perhaps cost his team, his teammates and his country the World Cup. Again, there is NO excuse and Zidane certainly deserved the Red Card.
P.S. I thougt that Zidane was the player of the tournament until the incident. I was cheering for France.

This is a hard thing to establish. Considering that p-robablly the reason that Matterazzi insulted Zidane like that was mainly because he wanted him to react in the way he did because it got him sent out. Then, Zidane should have thought it through and realized that Matterazzi wanted him to act the way he did. It was a bad choice of Zidane to react in the way he did, but also, Matterazzi's comment was totally out of order.

The BBC got an Italian lip reader to check out what was said to Zidane.
M: Grabs Zidane's nipple.
Zidane says something.
M: No. Calm down, liar. I wish an ugly death to you and all your family. [Z's mother was seriously ill]
M: Go f u c k yourself.
Z turns round and knocks M to the ground. With his head.

I think that Zidane is a great player,he is one of the best players,so I don't think that he would butt his powerful head in the italian chest without a reason,i am arabic and i heard that the the italian player insulted zidane by saying that zizou is a dirty arabic
player,if you were him what would you do?how would u deal with it?maybe zizou was a little hard and lost his cool fastly, but the italian player is the one who started and he is the dirty one...
italy didn't deserve winning...zidane you are the BEST!

Materrazzi's fault as Zidane would not have lost his cool for silly reason and it must have to be something violent.
i too was dissapointed coz i too thoight Zidane would have spun his magic but for that Materrazzi incident.
but i don't deny the fact that it was Zidane's fault as well. he should have replied in words instead of action.
my verdict is yellow card to Zidane and red card to Materrazzi but unfortunately the ref didn't agree with me.
by the way that scene was similar to a scene in the film 'Bend It Like Beckham'

I agree with you - but at this point it doesn't really matter what was said - Zidane should have known better. It's just such a shock because he is such a beautiful player - and for him to go out like that....it's sad.

Both.
Mattrezie's bcoz he provoked Zidane
Zidane's bcoz he is a professional player and he knows that these things are part of the game.
talking about the conclusion, Zidane is more responsible bcoz it costed him the final.
