Nothing is wrong with that. Oscar award winner, Gweneth Paltrow, played both a man role and woman role in Shakespeare in Love too. Maybe you are just following Gweneth's footsteps in becoming a big movie star. So, go for it.

dude,
real boys wont be able 2 give u tips about a girl pretending 2 be a boy,
personally i think all u have 2 do is try 2 make u'r voice a bit deeper then act u'r heart out.
i've read the play at school.
and i was given the part of rosalind 2.
coz my voice is already deeper than the average girl's voice all i had 2 do was act
it's not so hard.
good luck!!!

I guess that would be Rosalind from "As you like it" so its a bit more complex than that. You'll be playing a girl, pretending to be a man, pretending to be a girl, so its more a female part anyway. Now just to add confusion, it would have originally been played by a man......

Isn't Rosalind (of Romeo and Juliet?) a girl? Or are you trying to make it authentic by playing a boy playing a girl? Anyway, if you are, parody your normal feminine movements, which is how a boy would probably see them.

Take the part all actors start some where. Playing a boy is not bad.

Come one, that part is very nice! I'd say go for it. You don't pretend you are a boy, you are pretending you are _girl who is pretending she is a boy_ which is a world of difference. No need to ask boys, just read tha part, think, and comply with your director. Good luck, and enjoy!

good luck... since in Shakespeares time the female parts would have been played by men/boys, then I guess this is fair turn around

Twelfth Night? One of my favs. Try renting the movie with Ben Kingsley in it. I thought this was a brilliant adaptation.

ABSOLUTELY! Even if it is not your "ideal" part, you never know what it will lead to....and you never know who may in the audience. They may believe in your versatility as a thespian. You should as well
