it is very close to mind control to young children.

some parents leave the TV to kinda "babysit" the kids (sometimes even babies) while the parent does something. the minds of the young very impressionable, and being exposed to visuals of hundreds of murders every week has left it's toll on Society.

More and more children are now committing murders at younger ages and engaging in violent acts.

When TV first came out in the early 20th century, it was monitored by the US government. Although this monitoring stifled "freedom of expression", TV was a whole lot less violent.

More directly, advertisers are deciding what you will see; and violence sells.

Get rid of the TV.

Yes, the media only tend to show the ugly. Notice that Afghanistan is only in the news when a soldier is killed? The lack of news from that country (except once every 3-5 weeks when a soldier is killed) is because good things are going on there. Same in Iraq: you never hear about all the good things going on there, like schools being rebuilt and markets being built, the only thing you will hear is the death and violence. This IS meant to warp your perception of reality.

I believe it is common for the media to over embellish and take things out of context. Usually the root of the story is true, but in order to get people to listen or read, they have to spice it up a bit. And yes, there are alot of people that believe everything they hear, so those are the ones the media seeks out. Just be wary of what you see and hear.

No, it's just a way to sensationalize every stupid news story, to sell more advertising. It's also why network TV news has been in steady decline for years.

the media in general is a form on manipulating us to think about whatever the government usually wants us to.

the deaths they show on tv necessariy aren't fake but its how they show us and why they show us.

No, it's real, but there's also a lot of life, life, life that they fail to mention. Life doesn't sell newspapers and advertising spots!

People die every day. Cute kittens being born isn't dramatic.

There is an old adage in news reporting:
