Nothing you'd want to hear. I keep mine switched off unless I've specifically chosen to play an audio or video file.

Depends on where you're going and what you're doing. If you hang out at places like YouTube or Google Video, you will need sound. And if your friends are like mine and like to send you funny videos and music, you'll need sound. And sometimes the system will pop up a warning noise with email or an error.
Today's Internet is pretty noisy. Plug your speakers in and see what you think.

You sure are. Just hearing IE tick every time it changes the page makes it seem like it's faster. When my speakers are off, I feel lost because I don't tend to my MSN conversations as quickly. Ever since I got my surround sound speakers, music and gaming has been amazing. You should buy a good system for your PC, it really makes a difference!

1) yessss, if u r a music freak like me, then obviously yes. There are lots of mp3/video files available and lots of strreaming media sites available that its pretty impossible to live without them.
2) some e-greeting cards also come with music etc.
3) some powerpoint presentation which one may come across, are having voice/music too
4) And most importantly, there are lots of videos available on internet which are very useful, like at http://www.rubyonrails.org website, they have lots of videos in which the presenter shows(with voice) in a classroom kind of presentation as to how to create a ruby on rails app. This is an extremely marvellous video, seeing is beleiving. Similarly, there are lots of educational videos/multimedia contents(with sound) available on net which are very useful/helpful

Only if you have high speed service. If it's dial-up that you're using, you would just go nuts from the skips and stalls!
