Sounds like you miss someone you loved...

After all these years, I still miss the smell of animal cracker cookies on the front of her little dress, I miss the smell of baby powder...I miss that I didn't get the chance to raise her, and I hope wherever she is she has had a good life...

The smell of Lilacs are what I miss the most because they remind me of my Grandparents. I lived near them growing up and would have to walk across a bridge just before going to their property and Lilac bushes were on both sides of the bridge. When they were in full bloom, not only was the smell intoxicating but the scene itself was breathtaking. The best part though, was when I did arrive and eating my Grandma's cooking and listening to her stories.

My grandparents have been has been gone for years and when I smell lilacs (which is very rare...every now and then will get a whiff when passing through a countryside and synthetic version of lilacs just do not smell the same), I think of them and it brings back happy thoughts of a simpler time in life.

I visited Hawaii twice. We always went to the same hotel. By the pool there are some pretty flowers. They smelled so nice. I alway wish we could go back there. It smelled nice, and fun at the same time! I also remember the smell of th shore. It reminds me of all the fun times I have with my cousins in Michigan.

I really miss the smell of the grandmother's kitchen: vanilla, cinnamon and cocoa mixed into a sweet blend. I would sit at the long kitchen table and watch her move with grace in the small room - making Christmas cookies.

I miss the smell of salty air mixed with sweat and saw dust on hot summer days that is what my dad used to always smell like to me when he came home from work in the summer.

The smell of Palmolive dish soap when my mom was doing the dishes. The smell of onions on her hands when she would brush my hair at nighttime. The smell of the soap at my father's sink. The smell of the long-abandoned pig pen when we used to play in the barn. Puppy breath from when my dog was a puppy. Diesel trucks on the freeway in the wee hours of the morning.

Definately the smell of play-doh and crayons.
A close second is the smell of freshly mown hay in Iowa.

Ahhh, childhood memories.....

There was a herb that my grandmother used to put in tea, that aroma was so comforting. Every time I remember this smell I wish for home and my childhood again.
