WE MAY NEVER KNOW WHAT WAS SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is said that he should have known better but how do we expect a human being to be level headed when he is involved in probably the biggest day of his life ,I am sure that all players on that pitch were pumped up.

I also applaud Zidane for his honesty he did not try to hide the way he felt especially when we seen the most lowdown form of cheating taking place on the pitch during this tournament , DIVING, Athletes that resort to cheating I.E drug taking to gain an unfair advantage in other sports face a lifetime ban so why is diving seen any differently.

Any Way back to zz it is said the Italian player wished Z's family a painful death, not the thing to say to a man who's mother is seriously ill in hospital.I think if true ZZ kept quite calm as I am sure I would have torn his fckn lungs out.

No-one knows for sure yet but the news today suggested it was along the lines of a racial comment that included a reference to Zidane's Muslim background by way of describing him as a terrorist.

All a bit disappointing for the Italians really.

Why would it be racial abuse? He could have just called him a thug, which is what he is and what he proved he is. Zidane got what he deserved, and shame on the French supporters for booing the Italians.

There really is no way to tell what was said, but no matter what the other player did, there is nothing that he could have done to make it worth being sent off the field for.

Why does race have to get involved. Wasn't the whole "Stop racism" thing seen by anyone else. Yes he did talk crap to him and got into his head. They are both white so how can he make a racist comment. Like in any other sport you talk crap to get into the other players head, that's what happened here, nothing to do with race

I heard that Maseratti (intentional) said something about Zidane's mother. Can't blame him for the headbutting but i agree, he should have been the stronger man and not retaliate.

Also, since Zidane has a history of this kind of behavior, Materazzi might have been nettlesome to provoke this caliber of response

i am really shocked at that time. i just started to adore him for his skill in football. do you think i will remain adore him after that incident? of course i adore him. bcoz i believe he has reasons for that. nobody want to end career like that. it's just something he couldn't accept at all and act like that.
i believe the Italian player said something very seriously to Zidane. if he did it without purpose then it's stupid. but he's not stupid.... FIFA should investigate this incident to be fair. NO RACISM please! if not, then there's no use for that slogan.

well, if what he said was so nasty, he should have go for the head. Just to make the most of the (expensive) price he was going to pay.

Soccer players don't know how to fight. They should watch a few rugby games and learn.....
