Here's the deal ... players say a lot of things to each other on the field during a match. Sometimes it is friendly banter or chatting, and sometimes it is unsuitable for network television. Zidane is a pro who has been around longer than most other pros will ever get the chance, he should know better. Whatever the comment was that inspired the head butt (you can be sure it was provoked), Zidane should have had the professionalism to finish the game, lead France to a win in the penalty kick round, and then settle the score after the game. Even that is childish, but at least he would have been there for his team. I'm sorry to say this, after playing soccer through my college years (NCAA), but it finally seems that the same goonish, selfish, ego-driven tendencies of so many professional American athletes (baseball, football, and basketball especially) are starting to surface in other nations' pro athletes as well. Soccer used to be my refuge in professional sports. I guess the only game left where the players have any sense of integrity and honor is golf.

Do not know but Zidane on receiving the Red Card should have went over Mazerati and knocked 3lbs of shite out of that guy, then walk off the pitch and applaud the audience and wave bye bye

Alledgedly;

"I hope Jean suffered"

relating to the recent death of Zizou's first trainer, Jean Varraud, a man that Zidane considered as his second father.

Jean Varraud died of cancer at the end of June.

I bet you give good head... But seriously, Zidane should've head but him in the face... Oh well, I'm glad Italy won, but... Zidane is the man...

I think everyone can agree that what was said must have been terrible. Of course I do not believe that this constitutes a headbutt, but it makes you wonder. What could someone say to a man in his last world cup ever, in the finals, to make him react that way. It must've been something pretty awful and terrible. I'm guessing something about him being muslim.
