The long hand marks the minutes, the short hand marks the hour and the second hand marks the seconds on a watch.

not sure if you are being serious here, but just in case you are, it is because it marks out the 'seconds' - then there is a minute and an hour hand. rather than first second and third.

Because it indicates the passage of seconds of time. The minute hand indicates the passage of minutes of time. The hour hand indicates the passage of hours of time. Seems patently obvious to most people.

it is not actually the third hand it is the first and it is called that because it counts the seconds the 2nd hand counts the minutes and the 3rd hand counts the hours get it... glad you do thanks...

the third hand is actually the second one placed on the watch
the second hand is put on first
and the first will be last
