GRE's are not necessary If you take one or two classes as a special student. Once you are known by the faculty and take a full load of classes and do well, you will be on your way to a degree without taking the GRE's. I did this successfully at an Ivy League school. This is a good approach for someone who has been out of school for a long time.

Most good programs are going to want you to take either the GRE, the LSAT, the MCAD or the GMAT.
If you find a program that doesn't require one of these, then the degree probably won't do you much good.
