8 years old are hungry for attention at that age.... granted all children are... but what I mean they want to be the one to show off the most, get the attention from their parents, They want approval for what they do... BUt the number one thing is ... remember that you to were at that age... and i can remember some of my tall tales I told my parents even though in my eyes they were every bit true.... Children see things differantly then we adults or older children do.. when we see just a a white sheet over the chair late at night,..... while almost fast asleep.. and 8 year old that is seeing the same thing at the same time might think its a ghost...or some other imaginative creature. My husband at eight years old woke out of bed one night and swore on his grandmothers bed that he saw a rabbit big human size rabbit outside his bedroom window with vampire looking teeth... and carrying a basket of some sort.. What it turned out to be... was their family dog.....which was a big dog... mind you........ scooby doo type big..... standing on his hind legs with paws on the window,The dog always wore a collar that hung down... and had gotten caught in the clothes line as he had the basket of clothes pins... snagged on his collor...and the dog always climb up to the window seal to look inside the house to get someones attention or what ever he did..... so an 8 year olds imagination goes along way....
Its not that the story isn't true.. its just a story that is true to them.. and they want to share it, even if just a small part of it is true but turned around so much that its unbelieveable... just remember.... you were 8 to and those stories were far fetched when you as well told them... lol...
About the questions they may be dumb to you...... but to an 8 year old they are very important to them, as their brains are new and always thinking,.... so learnign everything they can now is helpful no matter how silly the question may seem. Your 8 year old is very interested in learning ... answer the questions best you can,,, and try to remember you did the same and remember how you felt everytime someone said thats stupid or whatever when you asked a question.... take it as what it is and smile to yourself and answer it..... someday you will thank yourself as children take everything to heart so the way you react to them is very important.... at that age.. so many things are going through their little minds that yes the most simpliest answers to the dumbest questions are all that is needed...They are such a wonder at that age.. I have an 8 year old and she is an open book that never shuts with tons of questions.. and all I do is tell her the answer and smile to her, yes it gets under your skin after awhile but this stage will not last long I promise ,......

Because they are 8 years old and they are learning still on how to use their minds and their expressions. No one can say "calm parents, calm kids" Dramatic parents, dramatic kids. My daughter is 8 almost 9 and oh my goodness I wish I could be as dramatic as her sometimes, I don't know where she gets it, I honestly think she would have no problem being an actress. My son who is 11 is the opposite, completely.

Sometimes they think they're cool. Probably if they an older brother or sister, they look up to them, and want to be cool just like them, or maybe it's just because they want to be teenagers already. If it's neither all of them, of what I just said, than I have no clue, how the heck should I know?

They are trying to find out about the world around them, and some questions might seem dumb, but they are also trying to get a sense of reality. Try to answer the questions with as much honesty as possible, and have fun with it.

The worst thing is if an 8 year old doesn't ask questions. The parents of this individual are very lucky. :-)

Have any memories of when you were 8? Guess you forgot about all those dumb questions and drama of your own. Give the kid a break - life is gonna break him too soon as it is - let him be a kid!

They ask questions to learn. As for being dramatic, they tend to imitate what they see their parents doing. Calm parents=calm kids. Dramatic parents=dramatic kids.

Because they are trying to learn and everything is dramatic to them because they havent experienced real drama in life yet.
