David Wright. He's hitting .316 with 20 HR and 74 RBI. Also has 11 Stolen Bases and has scored 59 Runs. He's the National League MVP so far, and to all the Yankees fans, sorry...but David Wright is the best player in New York right now, get over it.

Although I'm a huge David Ortiz fan, I can't see anyone considering him the best MLB player. Maybe the best hitter (even then a stretch). Sorry, but he's a below average fielder and that's part of the game too.
I'd have to go with Pujols 1 and Miguel Cabrerra 2.
Cabrera would be doing much better outside of Florida

The best overall player in the MLB today has to be Albert Pujols of the St Louis Cardinals

I have to say Albert Pujols of the St.Louis Cardinals. This guy is nothing short of amazing. He's been playing since 2001 and no one has been more consistent. Always bats. 330, hits 40 home runs, drives in 120 runs. He's more than just an offensive threat. He plays solid defense at first base and is a Gold Glove contender. Albert Pujols is the clear cut and best player in Major League Baseball.

Pujols has hit .300, with 30 HR, 100 RBI, and 100 runs scored every year since he has been in the game. No player in big league history, not Williams, not Cobb, not Mays, not Aaron or Ruth ever accomplished this to start their careers and only 2 or 3 players have done it for ANY 5 year period. If he keeps it up, expect him to finish with 600-700 homers and 2000+ RBI with about a .320 average. Thats some rarified air indeed.

A lot of people will be bias to a player on their favorite team. But in my opinion the best player in all of baseball right now is Albert Pujols of the Cardinals. I am not a cardinal fan since I am a Houston Astros fan but I have to tip my hat to Pujols he is an amazing baseball player.

albert pujols is the best player in the major leagues right now. there are alot of other great players ie. Ortiz, A-Rod, Soriano, Tejada, Santana, Oswalt, Ichiro, Halladay, M.Ramirez....... but Pujols has to top any list of best current mlb player.

besides yesterday, ortiz had like 4 straight games with a homer. he is the best of the AL. i say pujols is the best in the NL.
