I really don't know but i wish i did. Its survived the ages and became a a meaning all of its own. Remember this. Hi, Birds are monogamous and Bees are Promiscuous. In other words Birds couple up and Bees go here and there pollenating where and as often as they can. Its two different mindsets that result in the same outcome..........procreation.

Birds chirp and court each other. The bees go from flower to flower to pollinate them. Hope that helps a little.

I think it's just a stupid old saying that has been popularized by the media, books and people and has no relevance to sex at all. Unless they are talking about inter racial or ethnic or species relationships, i'm not sure.
