Maybe Jonathan Edwards was correct, God uses us as puppets and dangles us over a fire.

It would seem contradictory for a god to give its creation the ability to reason and to choose, and then punish them for using these gifts. Sin is the result of choice. If we remain blindly obedient, then there is no sin because we have not chosen anything different than commanded. This is another example of why if such a supernatural agency as a god existed, then a reasonable person could only conclude that such a god is a sadistic tormentor who created all the beings in the universe just for the delight of watching them suffer.

However, the story of Adam and Eve is just an another Creation myth remarkably similar to many of the other Creation myths that arose in the Middle East at that time. This particular myth like the other myths of the Christian Bible is filled with contradictions and inaccurate portrayals of reality, for example, the talking serpent is clearly a fictional character as there is no such thing as a talking snake.

Obviously, you're a Creationist...maybe we have sin because we weren't created but because we are EVOLVING...Gee, what a novel idea. This is a better question: If Jesus died to absolve humanity of all Sin than why do we still have sin? Another question: If we were created in God's (if there is a God) image wouldn't we be perfect and therefore not be capable of Sin? Finally, Who defines what Sin is?

I can answer the last one...RELIGIONS define what Sin is. Humanity has created a SECULAR institution that judges and punishes for "Sins"...breaking the LAW...It's called a government. It is ultimately Society that will judge and convict when someone does something wrong. The bottom line with respect to Sin is that as long as we have GREED and JEALOUSY there will be Sin/War.

A father may raise you with free will also, he instills judgment, prioritizing, morals, values and throughout your life you make decisions based on what was instilled in you.

From time to time you get reprimanded for your poor judgment or bad decision or outright disobedience, correct?

In the same fashion, we are held accountable for our sins, which amount to poor judgment, bad decions or outright disobedience. Once you have digested the bible you have been instilled with God's values and morals, so it is the same. If you do not wish to disappoint him or be reproved by God, don't sin.

When you establish a relationship with him you'll realise just how wrong Jonathan Edwards was, we are not puppets, we need to just use common sense.

Because God don't create Adam and Eve like robots, He gave them ability to reason out and to choose what is right or wrong to live.

God always gives man free will. How wonderful is the praise of someone if they have to praise you. Again, we are trying to use our minds to understand the mind of God. Impossible task. God did not have them sin, He told them to stay away from the tree. They disobeyed. This is the lesson:obey God, that's good, disobey God, that's bad. Its just that simple. God, the Heavenly father , punishes His children, because He loves them, and wants them to learn how His children should act.

Your question contradicts itself. The fact that God imbued Adam and Eve with reason is precisely what enabled them to sin without God's "having" them do it.

(Or at least, so the story goes.)

God did not make adam and eve sin the devil did. the devil was the one who tempted them to do wrong. the devil is a very tricky dude and can get the best of anyone no matter how well you reason.

I don't know who said this but I think it fits. "Common sense is not really that common". Maybe Adam and Eve has reason but no common sense...it seems to be the most prevalent problem in this world right now...lack of common sense I mean...

Beacause GOD also gave them "free choice". They do have the same ability to reason as GOD but they can also choose to not choose that reasoning!

Because God created evil and knew before-hand that they would partake of the forbidden fruit since being omniscient really doesn't leave room for surprise.
