The highest peak of Mt. Everest is along the summit ridge that serves as the border of Nepal and the People's Republic of China. Tibet is the part of China that is along the border. The summit is accessible from either the Nepal side (the easier route) or the Tibet side.

It and K-2 and a lot of the mountains in that region are on the border between China (Tibet) and Nepal.
Here is a couple of maps of the area: http://www.k2news.com/everestmaps.htm
Here is a nice virtual tour of the climb to the top from the Nepal side. See: http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/highspeed/everest/
One of my cousins climbed K-2 solo from the Chinese side. We have a lot of mountain climbers in the family. Our oldest son climbed Aconcagua in South America last year. This is the highest mountain in the western hemisphere.
