He was provoked though the italian player twisting his nipple and then calling him a terrorist which was uncalled for and obviously very offensive to zidane.
He should however have not let it get the better of him because it resulted in him being punished and we'll never know if france could have won the world cup had he been on the pitch at the time of the shootouts.

disappointing that a guy at that level who's been playing that long would do something stupid like that. Now when you think of Zidane you think "Oh Yea he's the guy who headbutted the Italy guy and might of cost his team the World Cup". Such a disgrace

I had no dog in this fight, but I thought it was unbecoming of a veteran player and team captain to lose his composure like that.
He will always be remembered for his meltdown in the WC.

i think it was just a tarnish on his record for life I mean is that anyway to end your international career. he will always be remembered for his great football skills and his chest butt forever
