The bloody beasts live at the pond behind my house, and all day long they walk around, eating and pooping in my yard. My dog tries to run them off, but alas, they have no fear! I'm ready for whatever means are neccassary, including posion, etc. ANY ideas would be great.

There are over 150 geese within the 1/8 mile long pond. SOMETHING has to be done. I've called the city offices, and after several run arounds, I get this, "The geese have as much of a right to the land as you do, therefore, there is nothing that can be done." I also found out, that I CAN shoot them, but only for two weeks in October during hunting season. And there is a limit of 10 per season.

United Wildlife’s specialty is prevention of geese from ponds, golf courses, lawns and swimming pools through special block-out, repellent techniques. The geese will be treated in a humane manner.

United Wildlife animal control can use repellents and reproductive neutralizers to stop the spread of geese on your property. Our goose experts can suffocate goose eggs but keep them intact, fooling the mother goose into thinking the egg should hatch so she won’t lay more. At certain times of the year, United Wildlife animal control can round up geese and take them to a relocation center or euthanize them, depending on the type of goose. (True Canadian geese are protected by federal law, and regulations relax significantly in the case of non-Canadian geese and ducks.)

If geese have already died anywhere else near your living or working space, we have dead-goose removal services and can also help clear odors caused by decomposing geese.

We’re experienced goose controllers who will travel any distance to solve your goose nuisance, and we can do professional phone and Internet coaching for those who live in remote areas, including digital photographs via e-mail. We can also ship you the necessary products to control geese yourself. Either way, we will work with you to solve your goose infestation. There is not a goose problem that can’t be solved with United Wildlife’s knowledgeable assistance. We’ll eliminate geese safely, humanely and right

The only 100% effective method to get rid of the geese is to drain the pond which I am sure you don't want to do.

Some people have tried swans because they can be very territorial and beautiful. However, I have seen swans and geese cohabitate on the same pond. Swans are also expensive to buy and they may chase your dog.

You may also want to try one of the many motion detection deterants on the market to scare away wild animals. These modern day scare crows sometimes hook up to a garden hose to spray and make noise to scare the animal away. I know these work well with deer.

I feel your pain... Dogs are usually a good deterrent, but bottle rockets also work quite well. The problem is as soon as you leave the house they'll come back again.

Wind socks or anything that moves and sways around when the wind blows helps, but they will get used to them if you don't switch them up every few days.

I've heard of communities as a whole working together to keep geese away from their ponds. They've even gone as far as 'oiling' goose eggs so that the flock won't grow in numbers.

Good luck mate. Cheers.
