I'm thinking Osama is popular with his followers and Bush is popular with about a third of the people in the United States.

This like compairing apples to oranges. Bush is very popular among the very rich and large corporations. Osama is popular among the muslim people. I personally don't like either one.

They are both popular.
Osama - for being a terror mastermind and responsible for the deaths of thousands of people.
Bush - for being a US President, having strong personal and social goals, for waging a debatable war, for being American, for being anti-gay, for immigration problems, the list goes on.
So who is more popular? I think they're equally popular. Everyone around the world knows of both Bush and Osama.
The question you should ask is who will leave behind the best legacy?

Well, they are both popular because of their position. Bush is popular becasue he is the president of the United States. Their is hardly a person in the world who would not recognize him.
Bin Ladin is popular because he is the leader of a notorious organization that has perpetrated one of the greatest acts of violence in American history.
Just because they are both popular does not mean that people approve of them. Obviously, very few people approve of bin Ladin for obvious reasons. Very few people approve of Bush either. Most people in Europe are dissatisfied with America's foreign policy, and most people right here in America are beginning to dissapprove of both his foreign and domestic policies. In fact, he has one of the lowest approval ratings of his presidency right now.
