North Korea would love the oppurtunity to meet with the U.S. just so they could declare to the world that the U.S. is asking too much. He would claim that we have imperialist demands in an attempt to rally other dictators to his side.
Besides, we are not even the most at risk in this matter. South Korea and Japan have more to worry about from a belligerent Kim Jung Il. Simply because of their proximity to him - they are both in range of his missiles.
Another reason for the Six Party Negotiations is to provide a more impressive, united front against such missile launches. Kim Jung Il's neighbors must be seen as becoming hostile to further tests.

It's not just Bush that is opposed to 1 on 1 w/ N. Korea anyone with a brain is opposed. The North Koreans want to back us in a corner and leveradge the diffrent opinions of our allies against us. We are not the ruller of the world so why should we speak 1 on 1 as if we contol what the world wants North Korea to do? The best way to solve the N. Korea thing is China and Russia allowing sanctions and six party talks with them.

Because this is just the another tactic from the Leader of north Korea to scam money out of the us government. He was so successful with his scam of the Clinton negotiating team, he is trying it again. Since the popularity of President Bush is low, he is also using that to say what a bully the US is. The President is wise to let the people in the region that have a direct stake in this to take care of this moron. We are in no way afraid of this idiot. There is just no reason to go on the offensive here. China will put their little puppet back on the shelf. This is a kook and a left-wing press that is making this a bigger deal than it really is. Wise up folks.

Because George Bush thinks from his ego. He cannot formulate responses using his limited intellect.
He called the leader of N Korea a pygmy, a child having a temper fit, and accused the Country of being part of the axis of evil.
Apparently they have had some communications in the past otherwise why would his ego have gotten bruised.
I know the leader of N Korea is unstable and egotistical but only someone who is unstable themselves would bait someone else with those characteristics.

When Bush went unilateral, everyone criticized. Bush wants 6 party talks so that China and other Asian nations are involved. North Korea does not want them involved as they lost credibility if they do. This is a very intense negociation though and being in ht eArmy, I am a little nervous about N. Korea.

North Korea has a mad man for a leader. He wants to manipulate the USA. With six party negotiations he can't manipulate.

Bush doesn't want to go "one on one" with North Korea because he has no personal vendetta against Kim Jong, and because North Korea has no OIL.
If either of these two circumstances existed, Bush would have troops over their in a heartbeat! -RKO-
