Alternating between Advil and Tylenol is a good idea, but also heat on the back helps a lot. If you can't use a normal hot pad (as you're not home), then you can buy single use heat pads from any drug store. They are normally used to relieve muscle pain, but work great on period pain too. They are individually wrapped, and when you remove them from the packaging they heat up when they come in contact with the air. They are about the size of a note card, are sticky on one side so you can apply it to your clothing, and last up to 8-12 hours.
There's a link below that explains what they are, what they do, and what they look like a bit better.

Maybe you should try another drug then advil. I would suggest naproxen. I know thats what women take for menstrual pain here and we also have advil type drugs (ibuprophen) here. If the pain is only on the second day, then I don't think its any serious problem, so try naproxen and see how that works.
Good Luck!

Besides taking something that is over the counter for the discomfort I would also suggest that you reduce the amount of caffiene that you take in during your period. I know that this has helped me. If you notice that the older that you get the stronger the cramps get then you may have a medical condition and you might want to see a specialist.

I would recommend Midol through out the day.. In the evening try taking a bath and soaking in Epsom salt. The will relax your muscles and best of all, you'll sleep well.
