Yukk!That means you might have very limited hardware. Get at least 128 Mb RAM to run these OSes, that CAN iPod! If you want to iPod, you'll not be happy with less than 256 Mb of RAM! You'll be happy with almost any processor of 400 mhz or better! If your processor is a 200 to 350, it will be s l o w in the cataloging, playlists, searches, etc... you'll w a i t f o r a l o n g t i m e a n d t h e s y s t e m w i l l s e e m t o b e f r o z e n !
But, upgrade (!), with a whole 'new' system, that is a refurbished DELL, with a warranty, starting at $69.00!!
you can download the FREE system, burn the LiveCDrom, and boot on your computer, in the CD, and it runs in a RAM disc: http://pclinuxos.com Looks and feels like MAC OS X, to me. I run both...
If you go ahead and hit the Install button, it will install to hard drive and run 8X faster! Do read the instructions, as you have the partition manager that will leave the ME alone, if you first de-frag, and make a new partition in the empty space...
Or, just install, killing the ME partition... It wants 3 to 5 Gigabytes of drive space. I always give it 10 to 20 Gb or a second hard drive!

No, to use an iPod requires Windows 2000 or XP. There may be third party workarounds but they are dodgy at best.
