If you are talking of downloading free books legally , I can tell you there are many good sites which allow that. For example try www.bibliomania.com for good English language classics and other famous works like of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. As I remember Wold Health Organization also allows many free book downloads on medical subjects. There are many sites which do allow free downlad. Be sure to check if the site is safe and genuine and that you are compying with the legal terms under which you do so. You can do a serach for such sites on either yahoo or google search.

Although not legal, you are able to download many things using the wonderful world or torrents. First, you will need a torrent client. Personally, I enjoy Azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/ ). Then, you need to download the torrents. Using the supplied websites, search for what you want.

You can find more sites just by googling the word torrent (woohoo, new verb "to google").

Once you installed Azureus on your system, just download the torrent files and then open them using azureus. Once you open them, just follow the steps of deciding which folder the files should go into and then you're done.
