If an infection does or does not happen, has nothing to do with staying warm in bed.
When you're sick, its best to stay warm in bed and sweat the virus out, but if you are not sick, I do advice that you wear something warm outside.
But the body needs to make an anti-virus in the body against the virus that you have. So when you're inside the house, it is not a necessity.

If you're warm, you're not wasting energy fighting to maintain body temperature, as thermal energy is heat. Generally, people who stay warm may well be better at fighting infection. I'm an exception to the rule. I love the cold, and hate the heat. (definitely a winter person). I'm hardly ever ill, not had a sick day for 10-12 years now... Touch wood...

Virus cannot be treated with antibiotics. The best way to get over them is to rest, giving your body a better chance to fight it for you. That is why bed rest does help as while you are in bed, you tend to rest better than you would otherwise.

No people who stay in bed are not better at fighting infection! In fact staying in bed for too long means loss of energy, it also impedes digestion, elimination, is bad for your blood flow as well. You should only stay in bed to rest (Viral infection) and at night time!

i don't think staying warm is the advantage.giving the body rest so it can use more available energy to fight the infection.
staying warm when you are in bed but not infected won't change the chances to be infected when out in public.

Its good to stay warm when your ill as it helps drive the virus out of the body (virus's can only survive at a certain tempreture). So wrap yourself up and sweat it out. (why do you think you get a tempreture when your ill, your body is fighting the virus)

As for when your not ill, i couldnt tell you.

Depends if you have a fever it wouldnt it would not help bring it down but i dont think it has anything to do with prevention, thats a comfort thing, a virus is an infection that has nohing to do with warmth.
