when cold gets severe it can take the form of pnemonia . there r other causes of pnemonia also like bacterias,fungi etc. but most common is thru virus.
it infects the lungs . the wind pipe swells n u r unable to breath.
cure depends on type of pneumonia. it can be with antibiotics if it is bacterial type.

Pneumonia can be caused by bacteria, viruses, mycoplasmas, other infectious agents such as fungi, including pneumocytis, and various chemicals.
You can help prevent pneumonia by getting a flu shot every fall. If you are at high risk you can get a vaccine against pneumococcal pneumonia.
