You also need firewall and to follow SAFE computing instructions.
One Trojan virus can keep loading other viruses and any other Malware they were designed for. They can even allow someone to use your computer without your knowledge.
I use all of the following Free software with Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer with MSN toolbar and the pop-up blocker turned on and have never had a single problem with my computer sense Microsoft came out with SP2. (knock on wood.) (And be sure to keep Windows and the following software Updated)
The best Anti-virus is: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. (www.grisoft.com)
The Best Spyware defense is: SpyBot Search and Destroy (www.spybot.info)
AND: AdAware SE (www.lavasoft.com)
AND Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.info/kb/)
The best Firewall besides the one that comes with Windows is: Zone Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/co... or just (www.zonelabs.com) and select the FREE version.
These are all FREE and are all that are required. There is no reason to pay for this kind of software, except to give a donation to the writers if you can.
ALL the above programs are recommended and should be run on a regular basis. With some the free versions they must be run manually.
The best way to avoid getting any Malware (virus, Trojan's, spyware, etc) is to practice safe computing. Microsoft and many others have countless articles on the subject of safe computing. (something I think should be taught in schools)

Run a good anti virus, don't download junk from anybody, or open e-mails form sources you don't know, I've run for quit sometime w/o
one and did not get any viruses, also run a good firewall(zonealarm/
free). download spybot search and destroy and use that to. It takes a little work, so just go do it.

First remove all viruses using a virus scanner and keep the auto protection option on.

Well, I'm sorry you're having problems but just want to warn you to be careful opening links in Answers. It was reported yesterday that there is someone passing a virus around in a link. There was several confirmations on this. Someone going by the name Jesus!

Install an AntiVirus software, visit www.FreeWWW.uv.ro and go to security page, choose what antivirus you want, they are all free; I recommend AVG. Also be carefull what websites you are visiting, don't run any activeX from untrusted sites. If you decide to use AVG try use Internet explorer as a browser, they integrate very good.

download avg antivirus from free.grisoft.com or just google it. run the software and wait. it will delete all all the spyware and viruses

firefox can fix the homepage hijacked.
it can block any annoying popup ads. it can prevent most of the virus in the webpage, as you know, most of the virus is spread through internet.
