Assuming that the gas is stale or otherwise contaminated and you want to avoid placing it into the tank of something you value... here are some suggestions.

A - Most municipalities have a method by which they will accept hazardous household waste (e.g. used motor oil in the event you opt to perform your own oil change). Inquire at town hall or check your local government's web site, or call your trash company.

B - Let the gas stand outside in an open container. Please keep the kids and pets away. It will evaporate.

C - Soak it up in cat litter and dispose of in the trash. If I spill a little oil in my garage, this is how it handle it.

If the gas is just stale (and not contaminated)... consider mixing in a little gas stabilizer (such as STA-BIL) and adding it gradually to a car's tank.

Good luck.

unless it's real bad, i just pour in it the car then fill the car tank. You will have 1/4 gal old stuff and 15 gallons new stuf. the car will run fine. I even get rid of my oil gas mix leftovers like that.

If it clean gas, use it in the lawnmower or auto. If its dirty, throw it on a paved surface and throw a match to it... Better to put it up then pollute the soil, I suppose.

Put it in a gas tank, either car, lawn mower, snow blower, etc. and start it up until the tank is empty.
