I have got intel pIII 733MHz with mercury 810e fst mother board in my pc and my os is windows me. now I have bought a creative inspire 4.1 sound system. but I cant get the sound from the real boxes i.e connected to the line in port as stated.is it possible to fix of what would be the loest expensive way of change to get rid of it..plz help..

It sounds like Windows Me is the problem. You might consider upgrading to XP.

My guess is that your onboard sound may not support 4.1 sound, if that is the case then you will need to purchase a PCI sound card (or USB version if you don't want to open up the case). A Creative Audigy SE will run you $30, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102002

And, it's time to move on from Windows ME. You would barely be able to run XP so Windows 2000 is also an option for you. It's just that ME is the worst and most unreliable operating system Microsoft released.
