Italy did not deserve to be in the WC final in the first place, much more to win it!! France was superior to most of the teams that participated in the WC but was clearly better than italy. Unfortunately, during a penalty soot-out, the better team does not always win.
Plus, if you want to look at it from a technical scope, italy has one of the greatest goalkeepers and a very good defender (canavaro). Apart from that, no other italian player was a match for france. Italy just played defense (with 7 players), had no mid field passing, no attack, nothing. Yes, I completely agree with you. Italians were a far better side than France and I had been watching this tournament closely, their clash with the Germans & the "n" th minute twin strikes made them win hands down. Moreover they were better poised as a team and did their job well.

The italians have played the best in the tournament. No one was better. They have the best goalkeeper, the best defense, great midfield and an okay forward (Luca Toni....what the hey, I expected more from you!). Okay, but they are the best.

No they realy didnt deserve it. They got it by luck . To me Penaltys is not the best way to rate the winner it works by luck.
