Newborns should be given formula in a bottle or be breastfed until they are between 4-6 months. At that time they should be given infant cereal and baby food or well-mashed table food. About 9-12 months babies can start eating table foods that have been cut into small bite size pieces. You have a few months to learn how to make other things. The Internet is full of websites with recipes and ideas of how to feed your baby healthy foods. Try this to get you started http://www.babycenter.com/.

Newborn babies drink formula milk (which you can buy in a store) or breastmilk. They usually don't have ANY solid foods until they're 4 or 5 months old. Even at that the food isn't solid, it's churned and mashed up because most babies that young don't have teeth! If you're worried about what to feed the baby go to the store and you can buy ready made meals in a jar for them. Good luck!

if the baby is no more than like 6 months i wouldn't give them food just yet they really shouldn't have anything like that before then cuz they could develop food allergies and you don't want that! doctors recommend that they don't even switch from formula to regular milk till they are 1 yr so rice cereal and formula is pretty much it (you make it like oatmeal till it is constant)

LOL...sure, feed the mom chicken and rice and she can make breastmilk out of it. Don't feed it directly to the baby.

you can introduce solid foods (minced veggies, chicken) in baby's diet as from 7 months -time as which rotary chewing movements starts. As from 9 months you can introduce your baby to finely chopped chicken livers & rice with veggies

I hope your just babysitting sweetie, 'cause if you were a daddy you'd better be paying child support :)
Just playing, but seriously- if you are babysitting please ask the mother of the child to pump milk or make formula milk for you in advance, and have her teach you how to warm it up.

newborns eat formula or breast milk.
when the child is 6-8 months old you can put most normal foods into a food processor for them but they don't need any salt or seasoning. before introducing solids please talk to your ped.
