I know that in the console I can type netstat and get reams of data, with the first being my own assigned addy.

Also, in GUI, I can invoke LinNeighborhood.

Why didn't you ask this on the forums for your distro? They're FREE!

run /sbin/ifconfig {inteface, if you know it}.

If you don't know your interface name (eth0 for example) just run that command without any arguements, it will list all the interfaces and the associated ip information.
