This music has blown up in the last decade. It's all over the place. On TV, on the radio, and more importantly on our kids' ipods. These "artists", many whom represent nothing but pure greed and gluttony, are being idolized by kids across
America and I want to hear anything you have to say about it. Opinions, predictions, maybe some facts.

Music is the most seductive spririt there is. I worry about the arcane, redundant, empty, profane, useless repetition found in some of these songs. Sex, rape, drugs, alcohol abuse, murder, crime, materialism, absence of creativity (white t-shirts and stupid dances) are glorified in a lot of these songs. When teens listen, (I wish artists and record companies would think about how the teen mind develops and takes these things to heart) they are receiving permission and validation for practicing all kinds of unproductive, immoral lifestyles. One good thing is that there is so much more than music and many people come out of the phase of focusing too much attention, time, money and admiration on this genre. Some rappers and some hip hop styles we do have to thank for an increase in racial and class unity. But, now that they have the attention of mainstream America, the materialism and glory given them seems to drown out what could be a platform for understanding and outreach. Unfortunately things won't get better. Just guard your heart and mind in truth and light.

Though the artists are greedy and gluttonous, but their just the puppets of label heads. The true artists who try to put out positive music are shut down by their label. If they should make it past that red tape, they are further rejected by your kids with poor record sales. So now we have a modern day minstrel show that everyone hates, yet supports monetarily for the sake of their kids. Teach your kids about quality music and everything else will fall into place. The popular artists are to blame, but hey they've gotta eat too. As long as there are dummies out there buying that garbage, can you really blame them? It's just a job to them, you can't knock there hustle. Snoop Dogg doesn't come down to the Burger King where you work and knock the fry tray outta your hand, so leave 'em be. lol

Hip Hop is a culture, some may call it a fad, but most people do not know it is a religion with very strange tenets that most people would disagree with right out of the box. This is probably one reason why it has been such a powerful phenomenon. For interesting ideas and discourses on this aspect of Hip Hop I recommend the site exministries.com
