Does that end relate in anyway to the beginning of Superman Returns? Is it worth watching the other 4 films before watching Superman Returns?

Ok so if the film follows on from superman 2-what happened at the end of that?

Point 1:
Superman defeated Nuclear Man by shoving him into a nuclear reactor. Lex Luthor got put away again.
Point 2:
Not really, no, except that critics and audiences hated it so much that it's taken a hell of a time to get backing for a new Supes movie.
Point 3:
You can cheerfully ignore part 3 (which is silly but fun and doesn't have any major plot points) and 4 (which was frankly a huge pile of radioactive rubbish).
Parts 1 and 2 might help, but don't fuss about it overmuch since all the stuff you need to know is set up pretty well in the movie.

superman returns acts like superman 3 & 4 didn't exist. Believe me, it's a good thing. 3 & 4 were unremarkable at best.

superman returns follows on from superman 2 believe it or not !
ignore 3 and 4 I know director bryan singer did !

supermans always worth a viewing anyway, whether it relates to the new version or not! the new superman has his work cut out to match chris reeve.
