Pigment means something has color. You are probably going "duh isnt all make up pigmented then?" The answer to that is yes it is, but there has been a recent influx of "highly pigmenetated products" started by MAC with the introduction of their universial pigments. What that means, is there is a higher concentration of color in the product, meaning it is more true to
life and you can use less or more.
Makeup ideas of the past were traditionally,you apply it so it doesnt look like you wear makeup. Now many of the trends are bold, vibrant almost peacock like colorations that you cant achieve with just regular products.
You can also add it to other products to change that products coloring. You can mix MAC pigments with lotion to make a cream blush, apply it dry to make an eyeshadow color, mix it with gloss to make a matching lip color.
Another brand that is on the pigmentation bandwagon is Loreal's new HIP, or High Intensity Pigment line. Their colors are vibrant and intense due to the changing direction of make up.
Even if you do like the kind of soft natural make up look, you can still achieve them with heavily pigmented products, you just need less and they last longer.

it has dyes or pigments in it. Depending on what makeup your talking about. The brush on ones have like a mineral or clay based pigment some lipsticks have it and they tend to temporary dye your lips such as when it wears off you still notice a faint color to your lips. etc, put a pigment is a stronger color that tends to stay on longer.

Pigment is color. Makeup that is sheer is less pigmented, makeup that goes on very opaque is highly pigmented.

IT HAS COLOR PIGMENTS IN IT THAT BEST SUITS YOUR SKIN COLOR . ALSO THE SHADOWS ARE PIGMENTED WITH COLORS THAT YOU LIKE , BLUES , BROWNS , GREY'S , ETC. LIP STICK TOO. !
