I am sure you realize that family law is country specific: Victoria where? Canada, Australia?
Normally, an intestate succession will mean dividing the inheritance among all immediate family members, depending on specific subdivisions that can change by province.
In particular, your stepmom share is regulated by law in different ways by province: in BC, it is 65'000 dollars. Children will get a share only if the value of the estate exceed this amount.
All amount on top of those 65'000 will be shared 50/50, as long as you are the only child.
Note that the law may be different if you are not in Canada of course!!!
You should take the advice of an expert, a lawyer specialized in Succession and Family Law.

that would depend on yer age some
every city has "free" legal aid...you need to see a lawyer if you are not wanting to stay with her and/or just want to know yer rights in general.
if you are old enough to work and support yourself, you can be emancipated to live on yer own
if you are grown and want access to your father's things over yer stepmom....lawyers and court is the only answer
sorry about losing yer father and good luck
