There's nothing interesting on the ocean.Just water everywhere.
It would be boring unless you get caught in a storm and that would not be a good adventure.
If you can't find adventure on land you won't find much at sea.
A boring person becomes more of a bore if you can't get away from them.

As you can see by some of the answers you already have, opinions vary widely about a life at sea.

Since I have sailed on the Pacific Ocean with my two kids I can give you a little advice that might point you in the right direction.

Instead of asking everyone (and get the silly answers that some give) I recommend that you read the books of people who already have lived at sea. They have adventures way beyond the silly imaginations of some people who have posted here.

Read the autobiographies of Joshua Slocum, the first person to sail around the world alone. See: http://www.arthur-ransome.org/ar/literary/slocum2.htm

Go to a marina that sells books and see what books are available. Ask questions. Expecially ask how do you become a crew member. Do a Google search to find other works. I'll sailed and enjoy reading the adventures of other sailors. It is not always the most exciting stuff that is the most interesting. I would give you more information but I'm on vacation and don't have my sailing library with me. Check out Latitude 38 magazine (the best sailing magazine available) and other sailing magazines. See: http://www.latitude38.com/

Sailing touches everything. History, geography, politics and governments, economics, building, science, philosophy, weather, radio, safety, survival, religion, cultures, and on and on.

Study the life at sea and you study life.
