LEGEND OR WHATEVER!! -- HIS BEHAVIOR WAS COMPLETELY INSULTING TO THE GAME. I WAS IN SUPPORT OF FRANCE UNTIL THAT INCIDENT.

FINE THE OPPONENT SAID SOMETHING TO HIS MOM -- HE SHOULD HAVE ANSWERED BY KICKING THE WINNING GOAL FOR FRANCE N THEN TOLD THE OPPONENT --
THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT IN HIS PART, THEN HE WOULD HAVE BEEN A LEGEND. BUT, HEAD - BUTTING, HE DESERVED THE RED CARD AND A SORRY END TO HIS CAREER.

Zidane was provoked, but that doesn't mean the red card was unfair. It was a correct decision, and we were shocked at how long it took!

Friendly (and unfriendly) banter between footballers is normal - the body language immediately before the incident suggested nothing more than the usual.

Whatever Materrazzi said, Zidane's reaction was vicious and deliberate. To let him carry on playing after the whole world saw the attack would have been wrong. Of course, depending on what was said, Materazzi may have to face disciplinary action too.

By the way, apparently there was no video evidence used (although I think this would be a good idea - that's for another discussion!).

But football IS a game at the end of the day, and I think Materazzi and Zidane should sit down and have a coffee together and talk over some of their better moments!

Well friends - do not forget that inspite of holding a high responsible position , afterall ZIDANE is a human being not a saint- we can clearly see a laughing cool face of zidane suddenly turning red and headbutting Materazzi- involuntarily , pls remember involuntary actions can never be controled - so here our Cool Hero was insulted to an extreme extent that even blinded his mind that he is the captain of the French team playing the World Cup final match. So we should really punish /acuse Materazzi for provoking and driving him to do so. The lip readers have clealy revealed that Materazzi has said words like UGLY - TERRORIST- PROSTITUTE - F___ YOURSELF - which are highly insulting and breaks the moral values for which any sport is played. This is an preplanned ,foxy action by the Italian just to make an advantage to win the World cup.So friends if u think that u can stand these words if someone utters to u - then u can say no excuse to Zidane

Provoked or not in those cases you just have to tell the ref that you are being provoked, anything less then a red card would have been unfair, such an action has to be punished and it doesn't matter if it's zidane or some unknown other player..

what zidane have done yesterday ended his bright great career by a real dark sad ending.he deserved the red card becuase he intended the headbutt.....even if he was a legend he must not be treated exceptionally!
i was with france yesterday and hoped that it would win but the truth remains the truth zidane has done a mistake.....but he still remains a great legend and one of the best players that played in the national team of france besides platini, camtona, girrose and terry henry.
yesteday and still today i'm very angry and frustrated by the miss of trezeguent ball in the penalties!

Yes, it was unfair. That's what had happened

Russian news: David Trezeguet was standing near by while it happened and shared what he heard with journalists:

Zidane to Materazzi - you played with you hand, boy, used your hands
M - you're mistaken (it only seemed that way to you)
Z - that's the only way you can stop me. Just wait, we'll bit you in penalty and then you can find something better to do with your hands.
M - keep dreaming! In an hour your mother will (rude words) me, the champion!

I would kill Materazzi for that!!!!!

PROVOKED OR NOT HE DESEREVED TO BE SENT OFF, WHAT HE DONE COULD BE COUNTED AS ASSAULT. PLAYERS HAVE BEEN JAILED FOR ON THE PARK ANTICS LIKE THAT (DUNCAN FERGUSON).
THINK ZZ WILL REGRET IT BIG TIME AND BE VERY ASHAMED OF WHAT HE DONE WHEN HE THINKS ABOUT IT.
HE SHOULD MAKE A PUBLIC APOLEGY IF HE IS MAN ENOUGH.
WAS A BIG ADMIRER BEFORE BUT WILL NOT LOOK AT HIM IN THE SAME LIGHT AGAIN.

yeah it was
the ref didn't even see it until they replayed it on the t.v and they can't give a card unless they see it happen on the field and i found out why zidane did it

Nope it's fair. No matter what happens you can't headbutt other player. It's soccer not some fighting or wrestling championship.
