Zidane headbutting Materazzi will be the most remembered thing at this tournament. Other leading candidates are Russian referee Ivanov's performance in the Portugal-Holland match, as well as other poor refereeing (the ITA-AUS match falls under poor refeering, as do a host of other memorable matches that were ruined by refs), the second lowest goals-per-game average in the history of the tournament, and Trezeguet hitting the crossbar.

Despite all the headbutt, controversies, bad decision etc, i think that this world cup has different air than the previous ones. Mostly fair matches were played.. newcomers are not as easily defeated, ghana was indeed very good in blocking brasil.. All the great teams have to meet each other, some falls, some continues, but all showed their best until the end..
Shocking result, great big team may not always win if they do not play their best, like brasil, they played not to their max and lose for that.. the final was as breathtaking.. unlike other WC final, some of them can played out their opponents in quite easy way, easy goals, fast ending, that lets us wonder why could the opponent get into finals anyway?
well, this WC hold very different feel, everyone, the finalists were fighting for their team, for their country, until the very last end..depression may come out of the tense situation, there comes insults, headbutt and else, but overall, the Italy vs. France final was great.. the refs were trying their hardest to decide it fairly, corrections were made, replays was considered. Fair winner comes out righteously, and i believe the france supporter will feel the same too.
The parties may be over, but the joy in our heart may not ^^ Thanks to Germany for holding up such great sportive events, we look forward to WC2010, wait for us South Africa! ^^
