snow's color is actually not white, as we see it, it is actually rather transparent, like ice. It looks white because, it does a total reflection (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_internal_reflection for explanation about total reflection).
A total reflection also happens in diamond.
You really need to learn physics, items doesn't seem to look like a color because it is that color, but rather because an item reflects that color, in this case, since white is the combination of all colors, and the snow do a perfect reflection, it becomes that snow appears white, since snow reflects all color, thus it become whitish.
And these questions (asked by r_govardhanam), do have answers. You doesn't need to accept the fact, there is the fact, and the proof and the reasons.
Where does the light go once you swith off the bulb? Absorbed by the walls around it.
Where does the energy go once the body declared dead? Still in that body, but it's saved as chemical energy, and the energy will be consumed by maggots, etc.
Where does the sound go which is not being heard by any one?
still there (although since sound travels, meaning it may not be there anymore), only too weak to be heard by anyone.
