The Libertines were a great band and Babyshambles are pretty good but Larrikin Love are like the greatest Pete Doherty live experience. And he's nothing to do with them! I just think we leave him alone now. He's not gonna write anything as good as early Libertines stuff and, crucially, he's not writing songs as good as Happy As Annie and he's not the live experience that Larrikin Love are. If he's not even the best Pete Doherty-esque musician what warrants heat and their ilk still dedicating journalism to him? He's now famous for being famous rather than for being a great musician.
And as a side issue, I'm right in thinking Ed and Micko are brothers, yeah? They look so similar and surely 'Larrikin' is just a bastardisation of 'Larkin'.

Also, Kate Moss was spotted at a Larrikin Love show recently. So maybe SHE prefers the new model too...

Anyone who's seen Larrikin Love live would get the Pete Doherty comparison. Check out myspace.com/larrikinlove or I think it's www.larrikinlove.co.uk. I haven't mentioned Dirty Pretty Things because I don't see what they have to do with Pete Doherty. I wouldn't suggest for a second that DPT's existance means that Pete Doherty becomes redundant as a musical concern. LL would be the cause of that eventuality. Perhaps.
