Nobel Prizes tend to be awarded well after a theory has gained some acceptance. Also, they tend to be awarded for major theories that influence the whole of science. While Dr. Hawking is a brilliant man who has done a lot for the popularizing of science, and he has developed a number of very important theories, it would appear the Nobel committee hasn't identified a theory he's developed that would merit the Prize.

A better question might be, "Why do you think Stephen Hawking hasn't won a Novel Prize for X" yet, and then we could discuss how revolutionary the particular theory is...For example, his theory on the decay of black holes into radiation (now dubbed Hawking radiation) is important to astrophysics and the way we think about black holes, but is it a big enough idea to change how we think about the cosmos?

Hey, it is mostly theory and besides we need lots of third party proofs to consider his vision as valid and solid. Sure he is the best out there. But Nobel prize waits till things get cool and till people get a hang of things. He will one day. I hope so.

Not all hius theories have gained acceptance - it's not like Einsteins theory of relavivity where as soon as learned people read it - they found it difficulkt to dispute his claims - all the math was there

Dr. Hawkin's makes alot of baseless claims in his most popular work "A brief history of the universe" or somethang
which in later years he has come to revoke several publicly
