First of all, try and figure out the reason you have developed dark circles. Have you always had them? Are they a recent occurrence? Does your mother have dark circles under the eyes as well? Once you can pinpoint the cause for dark circles, it would be much easier for you to get rid of them.

1. Are you allergic to something? If yes, work on avoiding the allergens.

2. Apply Vitamin E to the area under your eye. You could open up a Vitamin E capsule, and apply a little oil. Swallow the rest of the oil. This not only helps you get rid of dark circles, but also reduces puffiness around the eyes. In addition, regular application of Vitamin E delays the onset of wrinkles.

3. Apply creams that contain Vitamin C.

4. Inverted asana postures work wonders for dark circles. Try doing the sarvangasana everyday. Often dark circles and under-eye puffiness is caused due to sinusitis. Jal Neti is extremely beneficial in such cases, as it internally cleanses your entire facial region, rejuvenating it. Do the Jal Neti at least five times a week to clean out your entire nasal passage.

5. Swallow a capsule of cod liver oil everyday. It strengthens eyes.

6. Take a teaspoon of tomato juice, a few drops of lemon juice, a pinch of turmeric powder and a little flour, enough to make a paste. Apply this paste to the under-eye area, and wash off after fifteen minutes.

7. Drink at least ten glasses of water everyday. There is no stressing this enough. If you do not drink at least eight glasses of water everyday, you are not providing your body with as much water as it requires for flushing out toxins. Do not wait until you are thirsty before drinking up. By the time your body cries ‘I’m thirsty!’, you are already severely dehydrated.

8. Avoid stepping out in the sun, especially between noon to four, when the sun is at its strongest. Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes, and the delicate skin around it, from the harmful effects of UV radiation.

9. Apply a cold, used tea bag to your eyes. You could also applied used, cold, herbal tea leaves to your eyes, to sooth them.

10. Apply a concealer to the area under your eyes, to hide dark circles. Use a colour that is every so slightly lighter than the shade of your skin. Apply the concealer gently; do not stretch or pull the skin from this delicate area.

11. Lie down, close your eyes and apply cucumber or potato slices to your lids. Leave on for ten minutes and remove. Wash the area with cold water. This soothes tired eyes instantly, and helps boost blood circulation in the under-eye area.

12. Try out dark circle remover creams available in the market. Make sure they are of a recognized brand before applying them to your face.

Good luck babe xx

The key to eliminating dark circles really is exercise. You like most people might have a condition known as Naso-jugal Fold – [you can easily get this fixed now a days – website on the bottom in source.]
But it’s caused by fat in the back of your eye that is pushing up wards which created the dark shadow look you may be experiencing which kind of makes your face look more tired and perhaps your eyes as well look hollow.
I myself have this problem but I exercise regularly and it’s virtually disappearing. I tend to sweat under my eyes like crazy – sweat glands. And my eyes look better. If it really bugs you try running for 48 min for a straight week and it should get better plus it’ll boost your self confidence greatly – with time, also watch your diet – my face tends to gain weight way faster then the rest of my body for some reason. Always keep hydrated – helps the under eye area look 10% more refreshed. Or if you’re not interested at all in fitness you could go get what’s called a eyelid operation called blepharoplasty to correct the problem, but when fat is removed during the Blepharoplasty, the dark circle or Naso-jugal Fold and hollow appearance can be made worse.

But really if you look around, go to the gym – you don’t see hardly anyone with that problem – really exercise is the key, but then again not always.

The Bigger Secret that is Hidden Under the Eyes
Chinese medicine says that dark circles under your eyes or bags under your eyes are a sign of an internal problem, not just a skin problem. If they are dark that indicates toxic blood and the kidneys weakness in filtering your blood. If they are swollen that indicates sluggish filtration of your kidneys.

This can lead to a variety of health problems such as water retention, scanty urine, swollen ankles, fingers and toes and possibly urinary infection.
There are several solutions you can use.

• Use a chinese kidney activator herbal treatment. This would contain such ingredients as potassium, Juniper berries, Parsley herb, Uva ursi leaves, Dandelion root (diuretic), and Chamomile flowers

• Change your diet, drink plenty of liquids preferably pure water, organic cranberry juice is good. Reduce your meat and protein consumption, and drink tea, preferably watermelon seed or green, sweetened with black strap molasses.

• Cleanse the colon.
Remember problems that show on the surface are indicators of problems inside. There are other herbs that can absorb the toxins, serve as diuretics designed for the kidneys, and provide trace minerals to replenish the body.

Oh yeah and another thing. You should get at least 6-8 hours of sleep, the best times are between 10 pm and 6 am.

I read in a magazine, and i quote "If lack of sleep is making your eyes black underneath, try this DIY treatment that will leave you loking fresh. Folding 2 sheets of paper towels into squares. Soak them in water and freeze them for at least five minutes. Place them on your eyes, and lie back and daydream about the big night or event to come." This magazine topic was for teens that are getting ready for prom and notice some things that have to delt with the night before the big night, so maybe you can try this on a daily bases. i tried it and its working pretty good. just make sure you also get a good night sleep, (7 hours is the minimum for the average person). Try not to freeze your eye balls...lol....j/k....it really does get cold though!

Holy crap...the answers you've gotten! Just use a good eye cream at night and even though you don't want to use makeup, USE IT. I've had dark circles since I was a little girl, and have tried hundreds of things...nothing works that great. Good luck.

I have found that eye creams work fairly well. If you do it morning and evening, you will start to get results in about two, possibly three weeks. It is a gradual process, but it works.
