Our family motto is "Ly Bordis". What language is it and what does it mean? The family is from Scotland, but its not Scottish Gaelic, nor Latin.

BE Still - you're awesome! The original family home in Scotland was called The Boards. Wonder what ly means.

it seems to be the middle english language.
bordis seems to mean tables or boards.

Cant really answer this for you, but the LY maybe Welsh and the Bordis maybe from the family name or area your family originated from, sounds a little french to me.

you could look on the link below, this page lists all the scottish clans, with their mottos - it only lists the english version of the motto, but if your family is from scotland, then you could simply look for the surname, and you should find the translation
