I have 04 networks 192.168.1.0,2.0,3.0,4.0 and I want to enable routing on these 4 networks. If I use a layer 2 switch then I need a router for the vlan packets to exit out. However I am using a Layer 3 cisco 3560 switch and I have configured 4 vlans on them. How do I route them now?

The previous answer is not completely correct, the 3560 will support static routing and RIP routing even on the standard image. No need to buy an EMI license. You can do your interVLAN routing between your 192.168.1/2/3/4 networks with minimal configuration. Search Cisco's web site for configuring 3560 intervlan routing and you'll probably get what you need.

Well depending on what version of the 3560 you purchases you may be able to do it all in that switch. If you purchased the EMI (enhanced multilayer image) then you can route within the switch. If it is the SMI (standard multilayer image) then you will have to have an external router and do vlan tagging to that router or purchase an EMI license and software for the 3560.
