errrr...no. yob culture will be exacerbated by national service. tackling yob culture should be dealt with by investing more money in schools, youth groups, education, and stopping papers going on about young people as yobs..they become a 'self fulfilling prophecy'. if your constantly told your a yob, you'll turn into one.

Yob culture is still a minority culture in Britain so you all better watch out or we will report you to The Race Relations Board.

Modern thinking in the UK is that minority cultures have much to offer in daispora [don't ask] and there are currently many studies underway on how to use the undoubted skill and cunning of this group to dismantle [other] societies.

Although the English themselves are rapidly becoming a minority culture in the UK as the Yob culture goes from strength to strength, There is talk ofbreaking up the Union. There may then be an Irish Republic, Norn Iron, Cymru, Scutlond, Engerland, Greater London and Yoblan.

Well actually they may just rename Essex and give the yobs from outside £30,000 to relocate. This has already been successfully prototyped in Thurrock which is filling up with cultural minorites they don't want in Greater London.

Yes and no!

YES Some troubled teenagers might well find the national service a great help, in the sense that they would learn some dicipline they probably never got at home, the regime might make them realise that there are better things to do than terrorising other people, give them opportunities to change their ways. I mean the army is really good at teaching young men/women to motivate themselves, learn all sorts of things that will help them determine to make the most of their ooportunities, while also being a second family, many of those yobs as you call them do not know the first meaning of family life! They don't have a role model and if they do ... It's not a good one!

NO Because not all of them will accept the change! Those who are already will remain bullies, then you will have those who will rebel against authority as well!

So i would say that it wouldn't work out for everyone if it would most definitely help some kids.

YES! National Service should be brought back, I don't think it will tackle the Yob Culture (the army is much the same - being ex-REME I know), but it will teach them a lot about their future and show them a bit of the world. Most of them will come back home with a bit of maturity and intelligence.

To tackle the Yob Culture more money needs investing in Schools and 'after-school' activities.

First of all I have no clue exactly what it is you mean by "yob" culture what I do know is this. During the Great Depression that followed the Market Crash of 1929 President Roosevelt started several government funded agencies who's purpose was to employ the men in this country such as the CCC who built things like the national parks and such. These things where ran much like the military with the being paid and sending the money to feed their families. This is what I think we need to do again in this country you could eliminate welfare and at the same time beautify this country even more
God Bless America

Yes! I totally agree with you. Did you watch that "bad lad's army"? The yobs on that (well, 90% of them) actually became good people by the end of training. I'm totally sure that it would work. If it came to a vote, I'd assist the campaign for national service, let alone vote for it.

I'm not sure that would work.

We need to get to the root of the problem, and stop paying, via child support, the kwik-save shopping, rooney-worshipping, welfare sponging thick-as-sh*t underclasses to have children. That ought to solve a lot of the UK's ills.

There are enough anti-social pug-faced proles roaming the streets already, we don't need any more.

I do hope this doesn't offend anyone's sensibilities...I readily agree/admit that this POV is a bit fascist...but sometimes it's so hard to be polite.

We might have to if we start any more wars. Plus the Army isn't a baby sitting service either. The police need there power given back to them.

No why punish the kids who are hard working and achieving their goals in society not all kids are yobs.Maybe some of the parents should teach their kids manners and self respect and teach them the values we were taught as children.I Will always remember being told to respect your elders.
