Hey!!! I dont think they even spoke the same language at the time, so there was just a misunderstanding but whatever it was, that was a wrong way of solving things by Zidane because bad language always occurs among the players since at the time of play they become rivals. With the experience Zidane has in Football, he knows he was not supposed to do that even if he sensed they would lose the game for whatever reasons known to himself. Bad way of retiring, any way I wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

The report that makes the most sense to me said that Materazzi said something along the lines of "I'd rather take the shirt off your wife," in response to Zidane's comment of Materazzi wanting his shirt. Such an insult would naturally follow the type of banter the two exchanged and would understandably (and maybe even justifiably) provoke a head-butting response from Zidane.

vaffanculo (italian for f*** u) u ugly bold and stupido french frog lol in few mins we gonna be holding the world cup
kidding
Materazzi didnt said anything . Check this out
"Italy's coach Marcello Lippi last night insisted Marco Materazzi said nothing to provoke Zinédine Zidane into the extraordinary head-butt that led to the France captain's late dismissal. Lippi claimed the referee Horacio Elizondo had received help from an official on the sidelines for "a flagrant breach of Fifa's rules" before sending Zidane off.
"You will realise it was not Materazzi who got the attention of the referee," said Lippi. "It was the fourth and fifth officials looking at the video at the edge of the pitch. We did not do anything. They saw it and they called the attention of the referee."
Even if something was said Zidane has NO EXCUSE for what he did . wat he did is far more worst that any word Materazzi coulda said

I'm surprised nobody covered this - but obviously both Materazzi and Zidane speak different languages such that nobody is knowing what the other is saying. In short, Materazzi could be saying "Good luck" in Italian and Zidane assumed he is saying "F*ck you".
Since when did Italian players learn to speak French and vice versa?

it has been rumored that Materazzi was insulting about Zidane's mother and sister and his religion from Zidane's side of the story.
Yet Materazzi said he never insulted Zidane's mother or sister. He said he lost his mother when he was only 15 and even now he gets emotional when speaking of her.
Reporters are still investigating the story.

I would say instead: was France in the World Cup? That was not a French colonies team?
Anyway, Materazzi did it in purpose, and Zidane was silly enough to be caught.
France won a world cup without deserving it already, and now they should have been eliminated long before the final match... So, well done, bye Zizou.

well, only time will tell what materazzi told zidane that prompted him to take such an offensive action...lets hope it does not bring out the ugly part of the game, that is, racism or something...but the truth is, it old have been something hard hitting...because for a cool player like zidane to lose it...is pretty much unimaginable.

well you can decide when you look at this! I think that Materazzi is not only a dirty player, but just a rought player overall!
on the first vid it shows Matterazzi grabbing him kind of rough and then when they are walking you can tell that they are talking **** to each other because the italian player on the very bottom is looking to see what they are yelling at and also on one channel they showed a zoomed in camera on matterazzi talking and shouting stuff!
Second video shows how bad Matterazzi is and what he does! like stepping on the back of a player or intentially hitting them with with his knee or choking them!
JUST WATCH THESE IT WILL CLEAR SOME QUESTIONS!!!

As Zidane plays for a spanish club...Materazzi might have said...'You are the bull, i am the matador'

No one knows but the two of them. Someone told me earlier that Zidane was on the receiving end of a nipple grab just before!!
The BBC blog says:
I was watching Zidane through my binoculars (a bit nerdy I know) in the minutes before his dismissal. Gianluigi Buffon had a long chat with him, then stroked his head in a most tender manner. Maybe some people were pressing his buttons - who knows?
Anyone got a link to the video. It won't tell us what was said, I know.
