I was a little surprised, as H-H has the reputation of being the much stronger player mentally. I am happy for Mauresmo (whom I had never really rooted for before), especially after H-H showed a total lack of class in defaulting to her in the middle of the third set at the Australian Open.
Extending that side note a bit: I have rooted for H-H over the last several years because of several things, not the least of which was her heart, her grit, her form on court, that great one-hand backhand, etc....But, it's hard to root for her after she begged out of the last few games at the Australian. She showed a lack of class and grace then, and only minimally recognized Mauresmo after Wimbledon -- a very perfunctory handshake, and sparing words of praise.
H-H is a great player, but Mauresmo has now beaten her head-to-head in two Major finals this year.

Take away Justine Henin-Hardenne's questionable gameship tactics, and what does she have? A geeky looking bug. Yellow stained teeth, and nonexistent boobs. Not to mention those cold sores around her mouth. Yuck. I don't know why photographers at Sports Illustrated didn't jump at the chance to do a photo shoot with her in a sexy bathing suit. Lol.
Amelie Maursemo deserved to win. Something that Justine tried to cheat her out of at the Australian Open. Once again Amelie was gracious and warm as the winner. Justine is a pathetic person, with some hidden agenda. She may have won grand slam titles, but in many peoples minds she is a liar and cheater.
In a word, no I'm not surprised, about the Wimbledon results in the ladies final. God don't like evil conniving people.

Yeah,I was a little surprised. After she lost in the Austrailian open i thought that if and she did meet Mauresmo in the final at Wimbeldon she would want to even the score. But H-H did play the number 1 player. I guess it all came down 2 who wanted it more.

I thought Henin-Hardenne would win it quite easily after her great performances in the previous matches and especially after she won the first set so easily. I think after that she just lost her concentration and made a lot of unforced errors. was kinda sad :(

i was...henin-hardenne was not on her game...she definatly would have one had she not been distracted by the fact she was trying to see whether her opponent was a man or a woman...she has next year though.

I wasn't sure who was going to win, but I was hoping Mauresmo. I'm so glad she pulled it off! After she beat Sharapova I knew she could beat anyone. I'm so so so so so glad Sharapova wasn't in the finals, I can't stand her!!!!! Rule on Mauresmo.

Yes I too thought that Henin could make it quite easily.
But Mauresmo should be appreciated for her job.
