India will host the final of the 2011 World Cup with the opening ceremony to be held in Bangladesh, a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official said on Saturday.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has awarded the hosting rights to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
"It has been decided in a meeting of all four boards in London that all four should evenly play a part in hosting major events of the tournament," PCB Director Abbas Zaidi told Reuters.
"It is decided that India will host the final while the semi-finals would be held in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Bangladesh has been given the opening ceremony."
India is due to host 22 matches, with Pakistan holding 16, Sri Lanka nine and Bangladesh six.

Jointly hosted by Four Countries in the Sub Comntinent - India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka & Bangladesh. Bangladesh will hold the first match and the Opening Ceremony. Pakistan and Sri Lanka will host the Semi-Finals and India will host the Finals. The total number of matches in India will be 24, in Pakistan 16, 9 Sri Lanka & the rest in B'Desh. Hope thsi helps.

On 11 April 2005, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan announced agreement about the allocation of games, though no decision on the location of semi-finals and final has been made. Three months later, PCB director Abbas Zaidi confirmed that India had been chosen to host the final, while Pakistan and Sri Lanka would host the semi-finals. This will be the first time Sri Lanka will host a World Cup semi-final, after hosting two group games during the 1996 World Cup. The opening ceremony will take place in Bangladesh.
