Chee? What's that? I think maybe the little creatures you ask of are all hatching from their eggs today. They might be flying ants or the like. Don't worry about it, it's perfectly natural and happens every year to varying degrees depending on how much food they had the previous year. They'll be gone in 36 hours or so.

Flying ants. I have no idea HOW they exist. They always appear on the two/three most humid days of the year, so generally before a storm. They are wretched things and get just about everywhere. However, the good news is, they die within a day also.

I'm very curious about how on Earth they exist. They must lay eggs that lay dormant until the humidity peaks, at which point they emerge to plague us. But how will they know in advance if it's going to be one of the most humid days of the year, and what purpose does their existence serve from an evolutionary perspective?

Goodness me, isn't the world strange...?

What do they look like? Are they tiny long thin black things? If they are, they're called thunderflies where I am. They appear when the weather is warm and humid. They're supposed to come out when a storm is coming, ie when the air is really close.

Known as "Thunder flies". They hatch out when temperature and humidity are high, like just before a thunder storm.
