I have waited patiently for this world cup to start. for four years in fact. And it started brilliantly with the opening match. But after that there just was not the Magic or Excitement in the following games. All the theatrical diving by the Players. the dodgy decisions by the Referee's. The apparent lack of conviction from the team coaches. Even the players at times did not seem to be on top form. This is for me the worst world cup i have ever watched. And that's one thing i thought i would never say about a Tournament i loved watching. I will say one good thing though. Germany Did try its best as a country to accommodate fans from all over the world. to be happy and safe. With their Town centres with Giant TV screens for those who could not get in to see the Matches. I so hate to agree with you. but i have to, to be honest. this world cup was a Farce.

You are right, the refferees were just a mess. Imagine were a ref would give Brazil a goal against Ghana when it was clearly an off side. That is why yesterday one of the comentetors, said that there is need to have a computer refferee in future, as it seems that those on the pitch do not see everything and it even took a long time for yesterday's ref to decide against Zidane's misconduct. I pray that Fifa chooses young referees next time just for a change.

The only poor reffing I saw was the ridiculous US-Italian game. But then they let the same guy ref the german-port. game, and I thought he did a decent job there...so maybe he learned.
Many sports use instant replay. Not football. The refs are making decisions in real-time, with no back up. Leave it alone. The only farce I saw was the diving. Now if you are a ref, how do you differentiate between a dive and a foul, as the action continues at full speed?

You can never have complete consistency from the refs in any sport. That doesn't mean it was a farce. Some cops let the law slide and others don't that doesn't make criminal justice a farce. Part of being a ref is judging whether the offense was strong enough to merit action that is why there is inconsistency.

I have to agree with you. You know the game is rigged when there are so many last minute penalty shots called by the refs. I became disinterested in watching the world cup even though I'm a huge soccer fan because I sensed a strong bias towards the european big teams.

At his point, interior the main excellent League, he could have been despatched packing too. The big winner of the world cup was the sponsors. As for referees, FIFA had said that mistakes is beauty of the game, I don't know how it makes it beautiful when a simple mistake can shatter the dream of a whole of a nation.

Since football became such a big exclusive club, and the SOUL was taken from it, when players are out there for the big money and not for the fun and joy of playing, every football (soccer in "American") could have the potential to be a farce..... sadly.

We are all experts sitting at home in front of the TV watching slow mo replays and reverse angle analysis. But, the fact is, decisions made by football officials are made on the evidence put in front of them there and then. There is no time for replays.
If you are a real fan of football, you will know that your team has benefited from as many decisions taken by referees in their favour as they have decisions made against them. That's football...it goes like that. The beautiful game. Please don't whine about it.
