I think that the interests of youths are only considered once they have done something that is deemed wrong. the police and social services, even the schools to some respect only notice the youths once they have has an ASBO placed against them, or if they have been bunking from school. there are no activities for youths, all of the youth clubs have dwindled, clubs such as scouts etc have become so entrenched in health and saftey regulations they are no longer any fun. they get criticiesd for watching too much telly or playing games stations for too long, they are criticised for hanging out on street corners yet there is no where for them to go. their clothes are criticiesd for being thuggish, yet we live in a scoiety where if you do not follow the fashion you are picked on or excluded. yet once they have been in trouble with the law, their are numerous agencies that then attempt to help. if you are classified as a 'problem' youth you get more advice and help about training and activity courses etc. within politics they are viewed as statistics, and its always the negative statistics, ie 50% of youths have failed or been placed on asbos, the other 50% are not mentioned, those who have succeeded are not metioned, its just poo and i dread it when my son growss up because i really dont think society is geared to embrace decent and well behaved children.

The global corporations of this world are taking a more than healthy interest in the thoughts and actions of the youth of today. Unfortunately the global corporations of this world couldn't care less about social and political development, imo x

A select few are being taken seriously, these are the politicians of tomorrow and I'm sure than some of them are being recruited right now. They work in Washington D.C. and are learning the "political ropes" and are being trained to 'think' either republican or democrat. The rest of your generation becomes the 'masses' and it is those folks who are shut out by the politicians.

alot of the time in this sort of situation, all you need is a listening ear, youths need someone to talk to who would not tar them as everyone else. they are all individuals and should all be treated as individuals, they should all be given freedom of speech. if we start labeling youths as generation x and generation y there is a possibility that they will lose there individuality.

I don't think so. There are so many ASBO's being issued but no social events are available to kids in this area.
